Are you just qualified as a Chartered Accountant and wondering what to do next? If you’re coming from a training contract that was solely focused in Audit, this could be a great time to diversify your skill set and gain exposure into more general accounting. 

Whether your long-term goal is in Practice or Industry, as the market becomes more competitive for accountants its all the more important to have well-rounded experience. This role with offer you the opportunity to develop a knowledge and understanding in the preparation of accounts and the production of management accounts for clients belonging to different industries. 

This is a mid-tier accountancy firm based in Belfast city centre. The firm is relatively small but well known, as a result you will continue to get exposure to great clients, but as they are primarily NI based, little to no travel is required. Some of the duties of a newly qualified accountant include;

– Production of financial statements for SME’s, sole trader and partnerships 

– Reconciling bank balances, creditor, debtor accounts as well as VAT and PAYE accounts 

– Basic Tax and VAT returns 

– Monthly and Quarterly management accounts 

– Lots of client interaction and before long, client ownership 

– Supporting and training junior staff in best auditing practices 

You’ll regularly be communicating with clients directly by phone and face-to-face and you’ll become a key contact with them for advice and guidance. 

With the current structure of the team, there’s also real room for you to progress. Currently there are less managers than the firm would like, so they are keen to seeing qualified accountants progress to this level as quickly as possible.
